Pros

An OK place to work for young, entry-level professionals or executive level staff nearing retirement. Company is growing and therefor experiencing a lot of churn. Well educated staff with Masters (MPH) or working towards one, and many of them from reputable schools (Johns Hopkins, etc.). Company does want to push/improve the use of technology to communicate with their International offices. Decent benefits and holidays.

Cons

The company needs a better recognition system. Many people work hard and sometimes long hours and do not get the appreciation they deserve. Although, there are groups who do a better job than others. Lots of turnover due to growth and although well-educated, computer literacy/skills are poor to average at best.

Advice to Management

Design a company-wide recognition system that can be used within groups/departments or company wide (ecards, etc., similar to a well known company I currently work for). Better starting salaries and raises.

I have been working at University Research Co. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

URC is a family owned company which works globally on public health issues with a focus on the quality of care and health systems. The internationally based staff enjoy a great deal of autonomy to carry out projects and develop relationships with local development partners, donors and host government officials. Home office, when necessary, provides good administrative, contractual and technical support.

    Cons

Being based in the field does not always allow for substantive contact with other field offices to gain a better understanding of other projects.
