    Pros

Great resources, great faculties and great place. You could enjoy all the lectures, talks from visiting researchers. People here are nice to cooperate with.

    Cons

The location of Edmonton determins this cons... It is cold here in this city, and the winter could last for half the year. Anyways, it's only the weather, nothing about the academic side here.

  2. "Great advisors, terrible administration"

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at University of Alberta as an intern

    Pros

Still one of the best research universities in Canada. If you are interested in researching a specific subject, there is a very good chance of being able to find a professor who is, if not an expert, at least interested in learning more about it.

    Cons

The operating budget has been skewered. There have been some faculty layoffs and positions closed, but this has mostly impacted academic support positions like secretaries and TA hours. This means less organization, a lower quality of education for students, and extra uncompensated work for everyone.

    Advice to Management

The most important product of a University is prestige. Prestige attracts the best researchers, the best students, and generates opportunities for your alumni. Renovating the president's house out of university money during a budget crisis is an international embarrassment, regardless of where you got the money.
