I have been working at University of Central Oklahoma full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many dedicated colleagues who love the university, good university atmosphere with activities and events often, free fitness center membership, free parking, tuition benefit, new president hopefully will make some good changes.

    Cons

Bureaucratic, IT department gets in the way of things, the leadership team is out of touch, yes people are valued while those that question things are not, promotions seem random and are based on who you are friends with rather than true skill or ability, there is a lot of administrative bloat and some people are working really hard while others barely work.

    Advice to Management

The new merit program is a good start. Shake up who you appoint to task forces and committees. Listen to the people who are not saying yes; they may have good reasons, put more resources and/or better management in charge of IT because they are a drain on productivity and innovation.
