I have been working at University of Central Oklahoma full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

UCO has its own police force which has a constant presence on campus -- every day of the year and every hour of the day. UCO police officers serve the campus community in the same manner and with the same authority and responsibility as other local law enforcement agencies, with the added benefit of being service-minded.

Cons

Emergency 911 calls are routed through the Edmond Police dispatch. They then notify UCO Police as well as Fire and Ambulance services. However, this does not delay prompt response.

I have been working at University of Central Oklahoma full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are outstanding, free wellness center including free group fitness classes, free student personal trainer, free parking, over 200 different types of fauna on campus which is close to being a recognized botanical garden, students are fun to work with, faculty and staff are friendly positive, and helpful, professional development is encouraged and not frowned upon, programs available for personal growth, and UCO is progressive. Oh and the work/life balance is incredible.

    Cons

The pay could be better, but UCO invests so much in its employees in so many other ways, it MORE than makes up for it.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing by investing in your employees, listening to their concerns, and making choices that send UCO in the right direction.
