Supervisors are always available to help with various assignments. Provided with a lot of responsibilities to make the job my own.

As a student, its hard to get by with the monthly pay but the compensations package makes up for it.

I worked at University of Dayton part-time

    Pros

I worked in student development, and one thing I will say is that people really care about the students and the well-being of staff members. The university as a whole is moving towards more inclusive practices and having conversations around current events that affect both staff and students, which is a plus. There is still a ways to go but with the new president I feel this is promising.

    Cons

There was very little work-life balance, the pay and stipend was low for the kind of work expected. Bureaucracy when it came to getting things done, and though the department talked a lot about inclusiveness there was not much diversity among employees and this was prevalent in discussions. As a minority I often felt disconnected.

    Advice to Management

Focus on diversifying staff and being more open to contrasting opinions, and not shutting them down. A lot of times personal issues interrupted professional relationships and this affected work. Also focus on serving marginal populations within the staff and not just students.
