Neutral Outlook

I have been working at University of Detroit Mercy full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Intelligent, friendly people to work with.
An organization not focused on profit, but on making the world a better place.
The mission is truly at the heart of the University, not just corporate blather.
Tuition remission (free education) is a great benefit.
Beautiful campus (McNichols Campus).

Cons

Budgets are perpetually tight (at least in my years there), and staffs are therefore asked to do a lot. But administrators understand this. Although McNichols Campus is beautiful, the immediate area is not the nicest (Ferndale, a 10-minute drive, is a nice town, however).

Advice to Management

I appreciate management's understanding that such tight budgets and staffs can only do so much. I wish management would make the effort to ask front-line employees what improvements could be made.
