I worked at University of Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Florida weather, reasonably maintained facilities, few outright stupid students and relatively easy access to beaches and attractions of Central Florida.

    Cons

Administration is swallowing research and teaching focus. No focus on the career and wellbeing of those off the tenure track.

I worked at University of Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This job afforded me the ability to pad my CV, learn new techniques in electrophysiology, meet other scientists and learn about fields outside of my own.

    Cons

The institute where I worked was isolated from main campus. It was clear that certain faculty on main campus would deter students from joining labs at the institute. This led to poor feelings towards home departments, very difficult video-conferencing of courses and talks, and grumpy graduate students.

    Advice to Management

Since distance education is being advertised by the University, please ensure that teachers are obliged to video conference courses when required, that departmental seminars be held in rooms suited to video conferencing when requested, and foster better communication between campuses.
