I have been working at University of Houston full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible employer, interesting people and growing University.

    Cons

Promotions are based on who you know versus merit and contribution to organization.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the organization goals and not personal agendas, not everyone can be satisfied and be more fiscally responsible, leading by example.

  2. "Really Decentralized"

I have been working at University of Houston part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are a student, it's convenient to work on-campus because most departments are flexible with your class schedule.

    Cons

Pay freeze for students across campus, so even if you have been in your department for 3-4 years, you probably wont see an increase in pay.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employee morale just as much as your do about the school's Tier 1 image.
