I worked at University of Hull full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Worked with some nice staff, took on staff development opportunities and gained a good promotion.

Cons

Often it’s if your face fits, too many new staff at management level restructure teams, make people redundant then bring in people they know to redundant jobs with new titles, thus getting away with it, bad recruitment ie must have certain qualification but successful applicant doesn’t have it, weak management, major restructure resulting in a lot of long term staff being made redundant, new staff are clueless

Advice to Management

get a grip, get some backbone, look after long-term experienced staff and stop reorganising/restructuring for the sake of it, Hull is getting a bad name because of it’s treatment of staff
