I have been working at University of Illinois part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cutting edge research, amazing on-campus resources, huge, diverse course catalogs. You can easily specialize your studies early on and gain experience in a research position. There is a place for everyone here, and people tend to be friendly. There is also a work hard, play hard mentality. We are currently rated the #25 school in the world for academics, and the #3 in the nation for party schools. Classes are hard, and there's a vibrant night scene to blow off steam.

    Cons

It's easy to be overwhelmed, professors are so busy that they tend to ignore students, gigantic 600-student lectures, freezing cold winters, sweltering summers, subpar buildings.

  2. "A good place for calming down and doing academic job"

I have been working at University of Illinois full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There abundant resources for various disciplines. Many of the engineering and business disciplines here are top in the U.S. Low living cost in this small twin-city.

    Cons

lack entertainment, lack communications with others. Winter is pretty pretty cold. Weather (I mean temperature) changes tremendously during a day.

    Advice to Management

    more interaction among different departments
