    Only 37% of advancement team said they're not looking elsewhere due to toxic culture

    Wonderful university mission Alumni and donors are caring even if not in position to give Student body is incredibly talented and diverse

    In a recent survey between 60-70% of the staff indicated that they feel like they're not valued and have shared that they're looking elsewhere due to a toxic work culture. Only 36% said "advancement leadership values them as individuals" (4% strongly agree, 14% 18% somewhat agree) while 57% felt this was false (10% somewhat disagree, 18% disagree, 29% strongly disagree) and 7% were unsure. To the question "I have considered leaving UIC because of the culture in OVCA (Advancement office)" 57% said they agreed (21% strongly agree, 16% agree, 13% somewhat agree) and only 37% said they disagreed (7% somewhat disagree, 25% disagree, and 5% strongly disagree) and 7% were unsure/didn't know. Many people used the free response question to call out the current leadership and/or to express that even in an anonymous survey they didn't feel comfortable avoiding retaliation for giving honest feedback.
