    Negative Outlook

I have been working at University of Illinois at Chicago full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Nice facilities for structural biochemists - NMR spectrometers, ITC and DSC calorimeters, CD, fluorescence and UV/Vis spectrometers. Good colleagues, pretty good lab spaces, and overall nice city

    Cons

It is a big state school - the budget is cut every year or so, no new hires in years in my department, so we don't have any untenured tenure-track faculty. No real possibility for postdocs/research track faculty to upgrade
