Pros

Great benefits. Iowa City is a great, family friendly city with a small-town feel but with many amenities.

Cons

It can be difficult to move up. Iowa City is very over-educated. Stagnant pay for most, but usually a small Cost of Living increase.

I have been working at University of Iowa part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The humanities programs at Iowa are decent, Iowa City has a lot of culture for a small town, and graduate student compensation is pretty good.

    Cons

It's graduate school. You work long hours for relatively little thanks or credit. Classes and research leave little time to work outside of a TAship or RAship.

I have been working at University of Iowa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are lots of opportunities within the University or Hospitals and Clinics and the University is very supportive of finding the best role for each person and utilizing existing talent.

    Cons

Being very large, there is always a lot to learn about how things work.

    Advice to Management

    Consistency.
