Pros

You might make some new friends. It is a place to earn an income if you have responsibilities. It could be a foot in the door towards working for the hospital or university.

Cons

The leadership is self serving and their number one priority is serving as figureheads for the physicians.
It is a stale, dysfunctional career environment. Fairness and professional growth are not terms they embrace.

Advice to Management

Step off of your pedestals and realize this is 2011. Communication and interaction with your staff are two cornerstones of success, if success is your objective.

    Pros

    Great doctors, pay, and benefits.

    Cons

Both patients and employees parking lot is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Hate the merger of both Physician and Hospital to be as one.

I worked at University of Kanas Physicians (More than a year)

    Pros

It's challenging working for a state-run agency at a time when state funding is being cut. FYI, University of Kansas Physicians no longer exists - its employees folded into the University of Kansas Hospital.

    Cons

Employees must fees to park in various lots and rely on a spotty shuttle bus schedule. Costs range from $4 a pay period for distant lots, up to $1200 a year for covered parking in desirable covered parking structures.

    Advice to Management

Every job in health care is stressful; cutting back bureaucracy, and being flexible, improves morale. Some managers are more flexible than others; make sure when you interview that expectations are clear.
