    I have been working at University of Maryland full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    The leave and benefits packages are really great. All federal holidays are worked, but those earned holidays allow us paid leave during winter break, which I imagine is really great for folks with families.

    Cons

    Parking for staff is really expensive. It is more likely that you will move to a new job across campus than get a raise or promotion in your current department. The university makes promotion REALLY difficult for staff. Your in-office experience will really depend on your direct departmental culture and supervisor. There seems to be blatant disregard for employee concerns coming from the highest level of administration.
