I have been working at University of Maryland full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

location is great. Close to DC, inside the metra area, close to NIH, FDA, NASA etc... job opportunities are a lot.
Diversity here is also great, you will feel comfortable here no matter your background.
Gym here is first-class. Very nice for fitness, practicing everyday and even professional training.
The whole atmosphere is very peaceful and joyful.

Cons

safety around campus after late night is not very good. Try to live far away from university downtown.

Advice to Management

They do pretty good job overall. Fast response and most officers/advisors are very nice.

I have been working at University of Maryland full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a nice place to do research as doctoral student. I enjoy the green campus. I found the faculty to be generally nice. For a computational researcher, I also had really good access to computing resources.

    Cons

The most disappoint part are that they are no windows in most of the offices of graduate research assistants. Due to lack of funds in the department, free stuffs like coffee are no longer so.

    Advice to Management

I think the ME department needs be more friendly to graduate students. They should take more efforts to ensure that the students who do research have a calm environment.

I worked at University of Maryland part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The web developer position at DTIS, McKeldin Library provided me with opportunities to learn and improve by allowing me work on challenging projects, and guiding me in the process. It also helped to develop few best practices in software development.

    Cons

I did not really find some thing bad about this position. The compensation could have been better, but its definitely not low.

    Advice to Management

    none
