    No opinion of CEO

I worked at University of Maryland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The University of Maryland has world-class resources, colleagues, and opportunities. It is a respected "name brand."

    Cons

However those perks come at the expense of long hours (expected), okay pay, and no room for internal advancement. There is a class hierarchy where tenured faculty dominant all conversations and agendas. It is better to say that you have worked there than to currently work there.

    Advice to Management

There are systematic problems in most departments with inequality between tenured faculty and people in supporting roles (e.g., graduate students, post-docs, and lecturers).

  2. "Working for the flagship University of the State of Maryland is an honor and a privilege. This is a dynamic environment"

    Pros

Free tuition for employee & immediate family members.
Great vacation, sick leave, & pension benefits.
Beautiful campus and discounted access to arts & sports events.
Discounts to the gyms and work-out facilities.
    Good ideas are implemented.

    Cons

    Parking fees are substantial.
Traffic can be heavy getting to campus.
Not very many cons to working here. Work is interesting, people are easy to work with, campus is beautiful for walking.
