I worked at University of Michigan as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

The internship gives you great exposure to nonprofit management and major gift fundraising, access to senior management in the university's office of development, and a strong foundation for beginning a career in development.

Cons

Pay could be better, but that's par for the course at a nonprofit. Th university is a little bureaucratic, and there are limits to how quickly you can advance, regardless of performance.

    Pros

You'll get a better job when you're done.

    Cons

Any university which refers to itself as "the leaders and best" clearly has a culture problem.
