I worked at University of Nevada Las Vegas full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Laid back atmosphere relative to other research universities I have worked at.

Cons

Budget basically at mercy of Nevada legislators who are very libertarian and oppose tax increases. Las Vegas has a low skill population with a large retirement community - neither who are pre-disposed towards supporting higher education.

Advice to Management

Work harder to change image of university with local elites (particularly the Las Vegas Review Journal crowd).
