I worked at University of Nevada, Reno as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Awesome benefits: reduced tuition, free medical insurance, learn or apply current skills, build resume and contacts. It totally rocks! I was sad and so were my supervisors that I graduated and could no longer continue.

Cons

Dealing with the bureaucracy of a state entity was a bit challenging for me. Red tape or approvals seemed to get in the way of actually getting the work done.

I have been working at University of Nevada, Reno full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

UNR is a nice developing campus to work in. In the last 15 years the campus expanded a lot to include many new labs and social activities.

    Cons

When I was working at UNR, the quality of teachers and research activities was mediocre at best, although it is developing nicely now.
