I have been working at University of Oregon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Steady employment for classified workers

    Cons

Classified union workers accept lower than market wages for having decent benefits. Recent union negotiation have eroded those benefits and reduced wages in real dollars. Benefits for part time classified workers are even lower.

    Advice to Management

The work of employees, whether by PhD, MS, MA, BA, BA or no degree, should be paid according to the work performed, not the education of the person performing it.
