I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved working with students and peers. Discounted tuition.

    Cons

Management pushed for enrollment of students that are not ready or interested in college.( a student could flat out say they were only attending to get and excess fund check and we would have to enroll them anyway.) "coaching" served no purpose- one week item A is a problem, the next week that same item is the way to go. Management made it an absolutely miserable workplace. High turnover. Those that are still there are waiting for other opportunities.

Was initially sold the idea of being an advisor. The position is recruitment- cut throat recruitment. Employees are expected to make calls like it is a call center. Once contact is made with potential students employees are then required to make a ridiculous number of "follow-up" calls. Once students are enrolled, the incessant calling is to continue. The description for the job should read "Stalk people who dont know any better, convince them they want a career that aligns with a degree we offer, and then call and email them until theyenroll."

    Advice to Management

Find other jobs before you completely kill the university.

    Pros

Good benefits, flexible managers, great people

    Cons

Too much red tape for promotions, promotions are given by a third party not people who really know you and your work eithic.

    Advice to Management

    Promote the good people!
