I worked at University of Pittsburgh full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Ability to operate as you will.
Great sick and vacation time.

Cons

Heavily department based little to no centralized services or events.
Generally low salaries.
Poor HR management, often wants to fire or let people go rather than find new places for them.

Advice to Management

You have good people leaving the University every day, yet tons of open jobs. You should stop the outflow already and find positions internally. Also there should be more centralized services like workshops for all to attend, and more information circulated informing employees of them.
