Pros

There is tremendous growth in this institution, with a strong focus on student success. There is increasing brand recognition as a result of these developments. Certainly very competitive withiing Florida

Cons

The place is becoming increasingly bureaucratic, with increasing number of highly paid non-teaching administrators running the show. Sometimes it appears that fund-raising is more important to administrators than teaching and research.

Advice to Management

Improve resources for teaching and research, reduce the number of non-teaching administrators, direct resources towards improving classrooms, the core mission of the university

    Pros

You get plenty of experience at the cost of having a life or a profession. You must be a generalist to work here.

    Cons

Employees do EVERYTHING on this campus, expect no advancement pay or promotion while working overtime and wearing many hats. You will become incompetent in your chosen field due to the wide variety of jobs you are asked to perform.

    Advice to Management

Campus is top heavy with top management: 8-12 earning 6 figures.
All at a "college" with approx. Students: 3,000 Staff: 80 Faculty: 100. This is smaller than many Florida high schools (Tampa Tribune).

    Pros

As a graduate student, having the opportunity to work as a graduate assistant is great because I can gain experience while earning money. How can you beat that?

    Cons

The restructuring and budget cuts have really affected things. The priorities aren't necessarily where they should be -- on producing high quality students.

    Advice to Management

I think less emphasis should be placed on football. In addition, the undergraduate students are, for the most part, extremely unprepared for college. Perhaps there needs to be some higher standards in place.
