I have been working at University of Southern California full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, clean campus, lots of research resources available for people doing research. Lots of collaboration between groups and departments on research projects.

    Cons

The bureaucracy is pretty inefficient, and I don't feel that university resources are allocated as well as they should be (lots of money for football buildings, not much money for renovation or upkeep of science buildings, waste disposal department, etc.). Some staff people are amazing and on top of their game, while others have no clue and make more work for everyone else.

    Advice to Management

Ask the different departments what their most pressing needs are, and make a point to try to help them all out, rather than focusing on a handful of priorities.
