Working at USC saved my life, literally.

    Pros

Best team of professionals and kind humans I have ever had the honor of working with/for. After being out sick for one day then not reporting to work or checking in the next day, my supervisor went above and beyond by visiting my apartment to check on me. The subsequent actions they took and the concern they demonstrated saved my life as I had become septic and was literally dying alone unconsciousness inside my apartment.

    Cons

I did struggle with my health in the year leading up to my resignation, however my team was supportive and kind.

Loved the opportunity - learned a ton! Money was a little tight...

    Pros

I learned so much and drastically increased my publication rate and breadth of research exposure. Would do this again in a heartbeat!

    Cons

I started out on a pretty low salary that can make the lifestyle of LA challenging. It's also difficult being in the social science /humanities field, and you know other postdocs are making more money than you based on their area of expertise. And you know how much money you are making the university if you teach.
