I have been working at University of Texas at Austin part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great leadership opportunities. Mentors are lined around the block to help you achieve your goals.

    Cons

Buildings close at 3:00am in the morning. If you are uncertain about your safety going home at that hour then never requests those shifts. On the plus side, UTPD does provide courtesy escorts to cars, buses, and other locations near campus. All you have to do is call them and they will send an officer.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your Student Assistants because the building will only get better if you maintain that open door policy.

I have been working at University of Texas at Austin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working in Information technology they allowed you the time to properly research most projects to expand skills. Benefits are good, with flexible schedules and casual dress code in most areas.

    Cons

Due to recent budget cuts raises are rare and never enough to keep up with cost of living. In most cases the only way to get a significant raise was to obtain a new job in a different area of the university. People stagnant over time due to the casual environment, I've worked with many people on campus that should have been let go long ago for more productive people.

    Advice to Management

Merit raises to keep the productive workers you have.
