I have been working at University of Washington full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

There is long term stability working for the State of Washington and benefits include generous health care and good retirement options. There are also stable pensions and retirement benefits.

Cons

Although the University of Washington is revolutionary in research, the rest of the institution is slow to change. Change happens at a glacial pace, and I miss working for the dynamic private sector where it feels like you are making a difference.

Advice to Management

Please use the talents and creativity of your employees. Stop shunning innovation and original thinking.

I have been working at University of Washington full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They provide solid benefits. It is located on a beautiful campus in the middle of Seattle. Many of the faculty members are top notch.

    Cons

Course load is a bit much compared to other programs. There should be better oversight as to who and how many people they let in to the program

    Advice to Management

Take a more hands on approach with guiding graduate students through the program, don't just let them flounder.
