    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at University of Washington full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Access to an immense trove of academic documents and to the faculty and staff of many departments.

    Cons

Scale. It is way too big. The shear size of the institution makes it hard to make significant changes to the administrative structure. It is subject to the austerity measures of reduced state and federal funding.

    Advice to Management

I work for the IRL lab of the Radiology Department. I am satisfied with this management.

  2. "Horrible bureaucracy"

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at University of Washington full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Cutting-edge research
-Good benefits (4 health care choices, paid dental, FSA, matching retirement contributions, discounted public transportation)
    -Good academic reputation
    -Generous vacation and sick leave

    Cons

-In your local department you will be at the whim of vicious, bitter, unprofessional, unmotivated mid-level bureaucrats
-Very difficult to get a promotion or raise due to institutional policies
-Culture of covering up illegal or unprofessional behavior/actions for the sake of the university's reputaton

    Advice to Management

Remove the power of administrators at the department level. You should not have to wait months to be reimbursed for legitimate job-related expenses because some assistant admin doesn't like your boss
