I have been working at University of Washington full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most laboratory in the University allow flexible schedule for the employee. That allows for good balancing between work and family life. The benefits and time off are pretty good. We get every single state public holidays off. UW also matches 5%-7% retirement contribution for professional staffs.

    Cons

There's not a lot of career advancement available within the organization. That means the salary raise is pretty stagnant after reaching certain salary ceilings.

    Advice to Management

Create more career advancement to attract good employees to stay.
