No opinion of CEO

Pros

Generous with vacation/sick leave. An emphasis on work/life balance. Tuition reimbursement. Great location and a big organization to move around in.

Cons

Benefit package is great but very expensive. It is deducted from your paycheck. You lose about 35% of your listed salary in "benefits". Raises are small or frozen due to the state budget. There is a lack of motivation among employees to succeed.

Advice to Management

Offer more ways to move up. Have a better attitude about your work. A stronger work ethic and more positive attitude is needed. It's depressing.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Good flexibility, well known programs, leaders in their fields, well funded research.
Beautiful campus, relaxed atmosphere, friendly people

    Cons

Demands on faculty to produce fundable grants makes them less available to take time to really advise their graduate students.

    Advice to Management

To the thesis advisors, if you do not have time to sit down and help a student grow then you should not be taking students

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Very flexible, with excellent chances to meet and network. Always did something different, which kept things interesting. Good support from coworkers and managers.

    Cons

Working late Friday, Saturday, and just very odd hours in general. Pay is not fantastic. Working for a large organization tied to the government.

    Advice to Management

Trim the fat, there are definitely some jobs that can be part time or not exist at all and the University would get along just fine.
