Pros

Very collegial atmoshphere. Great facilities with the latest technology. Great opportunities to attend events associtated with a university ie. plays, concerts, sports, lectures, etc.

Cons

The state government has frozen salaries for the past four years. The staff and faculty have not received even cost of living raises since 2009.

I have been working at University of Wyoming part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great for students can schedule your own hours and read while waiting for people to pick up the phone. It is nice that you can cancel three days before with no penalty as well.

    Cons

Not the most fun job in the world. It can get boring if you do not have a book or something else to do while dialing. Seems difficult to get promoted. Sometimes shifts get cancelled last minute or you end up working for just an hour.

    Advice to Management

Look to promote people from within. Try to give more advanced notice of schedule changes.

I worked at University of Wyoming full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fantastic benefits, employer contributes a large amount to retirement and encourages continuing education by providing free classes to employees, pay is reasonable for government institutions. Good culture and values, strong feeling of job security.

    Cons

Too many layers of middle management in some departments, which causes things to move much more slowly than they should. The hiring process takes a long time, and anything that requires a decision from upper management usually has to go through multiple meetings for approval.
