I have been working at Unum full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Benefits, Pay and incentives

Cons

Schedules change too often and pto amount should be more. Need longer breaks.

Advice to Management

Consider employing more people. I take 80-100 calls per day. It’s overwhelming.

I worked at Unum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great support as a female by other female coworkers.
Many of the managers are very supportive.
Some flexibility in work arrangements such as work at home or compressed schedules.

    Cons

Room to advance at a pace outside of long, set standards, is near impossible. Ability to move from one department to another is limited and in most cases means that you must take many steps back in your career. The Worcester office is very limited for growth opportunities as it only houses one of the many products the company offers.
Management openly states they expect at least a 50 hour week from salary claims department employees during all times of year to maintain case load, while offering little opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Seek ways to truly support individuals that show the drive to advance and that add value to the company. You don't want to be looking for ways to keep people after they have already made the decision to move on.

    Pros

Flex with time, opportunity to learn and develop your own career path, caring peers

    Cons

Behind the times with tech, lots of turnover at all levels over that last few years makes it difficult to maintain momentum with initiatives and morale.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people that do the work. Stop getting in your own way.
