Pros

Really talented engineering team that functions cohesively, solves challenging problems, and has fun doing it. Good focus on career growth, transparent leadership team, good pay and benefits, great downtown location, great company culture (if you don’t like political drama), can’t say enough great things.

Cons

Small company bumps here and there, which could make one uncomfortable if change makes you uncomfortable. Sometimes we’re so focused on execution we fail to take time to communicate across the different teams.

Advice to Management

Continue to remain transparent and approachable. Look for ways to improve communication across teams without compromising execution.

I have been working at UserVoice full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

UserVoice considers themselves a startup, and in a lot of ways they are. Everyone knows and respects each other. Anyone you work with truly cares about the product and not their own personal agenda. Your opinions matter and can help shape the company and its product. The office space is great, they have standing desks, video games, and tons of snacks and beer.

Although UserVoice embraces a startup culture, they are an established company that is maturely managed. With competitive compensation and benefits, you never feel like you're gambling your career on the success of a startup. UserVoice has a great work/life balance. Everyone works hard but you don't have to work 60 hour weeks to hit a deadline or keep up.

    Cons

Working for a small company is a lot of work. You have to be willing to jump into wide arrays of problems and come up with solutions.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the communication and transparency!

I have been working at UserVoice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

UserVoice has specifically nurtured a culture for development and personal growth. Not only will you be challenged professionally, you'll get the opportunity to make personal goals and work on them daily.

In addition to personal growth, you will grow professionally. The org is very flat, so you're working with technical leaders and senior management daily. You'd have to try to not learn something from your peers.

The employees here are very open-minded and accepting, both personally and professionally. There's no overarching architect gatekeeping the code from changing.

UserVoice promotes a great work-life balance, benefits, compensation, snacks, etc. The management really does strive to keep their employees happy, and it shows on the ground floor.

Lastly, both offices are in prime locations. It's just cool to work in the heart of downtown Raleigh.

    Cons

The org being flat is a pro and a con. Some people may want to climb a corporate ladder to really see progression, but that's not here.

The office can be a bit quiet some days.

    Advice to Management

You all rock. You don't play the political game and you don't sugarcoat thoughts and news from your employees. Keep it up!
