I have been working at VCU Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Partially paid tuition
    Medical Insurance
    Proximity to Downtown Richmond amenities
Ability to makes tons of connections

    Cons

    Bad management
    Tricky health plans
    No parking
    Tons of turnover

    Advice to Management

Please start paying more attention to the facility and it's daily processes. Stop throwing money away on frivolous things that are not cost effective in the end. MCV is historically know for having "too many hands in the pot" syndrome. Leadership really needs to start making real decisions cohesively and stop being so title driven. If you keep trying to get recognition for yourself this organization will never get to the level of its' competitors.

    Pros

Great value to community, collegial environment, excellent benefits, generous HR policies, satisfaction that your work contributes to the greater good of the area.

    Cons

Outside of patient care, administrative practices are outdated and unnecessarily redundant, employees are not given enough autonomy or authority over responsibilities unless in senior management.

    Advice to Management

Outside of patient care areas: update administrative technology, give employees outside of senior management more autonomy and authority over responsibilities.
