I have been working at VERTEX Solutions as a contractor

    Pros

Finally have a CEO who is steering the ship with a steady hand and is not afraid to make the tough calls. Difficult turnaround year but without the changes that were made, I think the company would have had to close its doors after years of losing money and bad decisions. This year was the first time that the different divisions of the company were talking to each other and leveraging opportunities together. Company is doing some cutting-edge stuff in the learning technology world so it's fun to be involved with projects. Clients have been loyal and stuck with us this year - CEO did a good job at personally communicating with clients to keep them informed and reassured about the changes that were happening.

    Cons

This company (at least right now) is not for people who need established structure and processes. It needs people who aren't afraid of change and can thrive in a rollercoaster environment. That's what this past year has been all about. It's been very stressful at times. Was really tough to lose a lot of friends/colleagues earlier this year but I hear from people who have been with the company longer than me that it's the first time that senior management stepped up to make some very tough calls.

    Advice to Management

Communicate, communicate, communicate - keep communicating on a regular basis. Many thanks to the CEO who has invited employees at all levels to communicate with her directly if they have any questions or concerns - first time I've seen that. She actually seems human. Would be nice to see some kind of reward structure for project teams. Have us share a piece of the pie when projects are executed well and are profitable, shouldn't just be the salespeople who get rewarded. But that ticks me off with a lot of companies. Guess it would have been difficult to execute this year what with everything else that was going on.

    Pros

40% commission, huge earning potential, self managing. You can seriously earn more money in a month than your friends do in a year!

    Cons

Ultimately, if you aren't money driven, and want an easy job, this isn't for you. Recruitment is a tough role, even tougher hear, but the $$$ are huge

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the poor people earlier, they are viruses and are kept in the business for too long at times. Yes it's high turnaround but if they can't cut it, cut them.
