Pros

benefits, salary
leading edge technology, autonomy, free product training if you can find the time to do, employee recognition program

Cons

No work/life balance
Processes and internal IT infrastructure not established to support tremendous employee growth (i.e. access to available technology tools, communications, training, divisional contacts)
Lack of HR support
Constant change without communication or contribution from internal or external stakeholders
HR positions VMware as a collaborative team environment but it is very siloed -
Management is very tactical and does not support the requirements of the department in order to work efficiently.
Managers get promoted without sufficient people management training or leadership skills

    Pros

    Technology - First Class
    People - First Class

    Cons

    Margin, Margin, Margin
Drive the teams into the ground
Push them even harder, they quit, who cares, plenty of people in line...supposedly
Make the employees justify why they should be paid a bonus or a salary increase
    Push them harder
    Make goals really dreams..... unachievable

This was a great company now its about the dollar regardless of anything else.

    Advice to Management

Pauls message is very clear, the local management should take this one rather than focus on margin. Paul has shaped this company well with regards to products and they way they are positioned. The loyal VMware people are proud to work for Paul. and share is beliefs.

Below that is chaos and uncertainty shrouded by doubt.

The door swings both ways and the exit door is due for a service.

Respect your people, junior and middle management especially. You need them to develop for VMware to become a first class company.

There are many, I mean many unhappy people looking......
