I have been working at VMware full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great market leading technology and very aggressive compensation and benefit packages.

Cons

Your experience will vary depending on management. Seems like because of the explosive growth, some managers got into management just because they were at the right place at the right time and not because of management capabilities.

Advice to Management

Some management needs to realize they manage people and not just sales numbers. Because the company is growing a lot of these managers do not have visibility to the higher ranks, but bewared of turnover and morale challenges that are hiding behind a great quarter performance.

I worked at VMware as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cutting edge technology, Virtual machines and the cloud integration is just phenomenal and is the future of technology. HQ at Palo Alto is a fantastic campus and with lots of more facilities under construction. Compensation is upto the mark and company takes care of good bonuses and other perks.

    Cons

It has now already grown to a significant size, so u may not get a very true-startup experience. So if u want to settle down it's a best place.

    Advice to Management

I think management at US is doing well. But global reputation can be improved.

I have been working at VMware full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly smart people to work with. Emphasis on philanthropy and collaboration. Flexible schedule, Unlimited vacation time. They feed you!

    Cons

You work hard, and some times a lot of hours at times, which can be tough on work-life balance. Despite being 15 years old, it feels like a startup sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Don't wait until folks are giving notice as the first opportunity to fix the issues they bring you.
