Pros

My supervisor gives me the autonomy that I need to do a good job. I never feel like someone is looking over my shoulder. I have the support to make changes and try new ideas out to benefit my clients and co-workers. VU is very supportive of the work/life balance and encourages good health.

Cons

The university side has very limited holidays compared to other universities. However, the vacation accural is good and so makes up for it.

    Pros

While few places are perfect in every way, Vanderbilt succeeds in creating an excellent research environment. Lots of interaction and opportunities to share thoughts. Lots of core labs for sharing advanced technology and equipment so smaller labs don't have to buy expensive stuff.

    Cons

Highly regulated and paid by strict guidelines. I wish there was more flexibility in individual pay according to contribution and not just education and time of experience.
