I have been working at Verivo full-time

Pros

Verivo employees are smart, hard-working and pretty fun to hang out with after hours. There are virtually no politics to deal with, and instead the company fosters an openness between employees and management. Hard work is recognized and every single employee is encouraged (and expected!) to contribute good ideas and to take the initiative to get them done. Verivo is 100% focused on the enterprise mobility space, which is an exciting and booming industry. There is a tremendous opportunity right now to shape the direction of this market, and Verivo is working hard to be at the forefront. There are some stealth projects going on that have not yet been announced to the public, so stay tuned for some pretty big things.

Cons

It's no secret that there has been some transition at Verivo over the past several months. Some may interpret this as turmoil but others will recognize the need for some important changes that need to occur in order to keep ahead of the market. In case you don't follow it, mobile technology changes at a rate faster than any other technology in history. Like any small-ish company, employees must be prepared to react quickly to change. Working for a technology company in a cutting edge industry is not for everyone!

Advice to Management

Continue to keep communication open with all employees, make employees feel valued, and set an example by living and breathing Verivo values.

    Pros

Mobile market is hot, good industry to have on resume. Beautiful building. Garage Parking, good health insurance, cafeteria has good food!

    Cons

Company had 3 lay offs from August 2012 thru January 2013 (sales and marketing mostly - not great way to sell product) and one forth of dvlmpt team quit in Q4 alone. Company is horrible at managing budgets ....will there even be a Verivo by end of 2013? Highly doubt it. People are leaving company at alarming rates ...upper management staff leaving or looking to leave as well. New Hires stay about 6 months. Look at LinkedIn at people who left 2012 & 2013 alone!

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to manage money and people and hopefully company will see a profitable 2014.

    Pros

Great people and good team camaraderie.
All departments work very hard; everyone's committed and you can rely on them to give their all.
Great opportunity for engineers to get into the booming mobile app industry.
Many employees who were hired at entry-level straight out of undergraduate are now in management positions.

    Cons

Very long hours, constant deadline pressures.
No agile development practices means poor management of engineering tasks.
Waterfall development and tough deadlines lead to very buggy, very low-quality software.
There are no cutting-edge technologies being pioneered here; as an engineer, it's hard to be challenged other than by deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Slow down so the engineering team has time to produce a quality product. Engineering needs freedom to pioneer a novel architecture, rather than heaping on the features.
