I worked at Verizon full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The people were very nice and even made to be great friends. The management was willing to work with me on several occasions.

Cons

The stats were confusing and stupid. It swears up and down that the fixing it the first time was the key goal but then there were conflicting like keeping a call handle time. Next they would provide stupid things like sending a box out. Or even rediclious charges and it was horrible.

Advice to Management

Figure out how to balance the stats more. Also giving more chances for people to grow instead of suffocating.

I worked at Verizon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was able to work from home for several years and decent benefits.

    Cons

Continuous layoffs, lacked leadership or any foresight. Hired and realigned entire organizations to determine just a few months later to lay off the people they just recruited, hired and trained. Acted like they cared about customer satisfaction (spent lots of time/money on customer surveys) but never followed through on the constant customer complaints.

    Advice to Management

Truly commit to long-term goals and to customer service.

I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Able to work from home.
Flexible hours, as long as you deliver results.
    Good benefits, including tuition assistance.

    Cons

Difficult to get promotions - favorable to people who are friends with existing leadership.
Lots of reorganization, and with them, layoffs. They not always work or improve anything.
Very bureaucratic - even to order some business cards is a pain, which makes you give up.
Working hard doesn't seem to pay off - recognition is rare.
Too focused on cost savings and less on customer or employee satisfaction.
    Too much focus on offshoring

    Advice to Management

Focus on customer service and employee satisfaction.
    Reduce the layers of bureaucracy.
