I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Some of the best training and educational benefits in the industry. Compensation is competitive with other enterprise companies. Work is challenging and innovative depending on the group you are with.

Cons

If you are looking for someone to tell you what to do, don't bother. Goals are set and it is up to you how to meet them. This leads to some typical enterprise politics like sabotage, cheating and other unethical behavior. Work/Life balance is virtually non-existent.

Advice to Management

Make sure that goals are attainable using ethical practices before setting them. Understand that employees have life situations that come up and must be handled.

  1. "Excellent place to learn HP ALM Quality Center and Telecom Products"

Former Contractor - Quality Assurance Project Manager in Colorado Springs, CO

I worked at Verizon as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got a real workout on HP ALM Quality Center and Telecom Product order flow when I was contracted by Infinite Computer Solutions to Verizon Business in Colorado Sprngs, CO. This included entering Requirements, Test Cases and Defects and performing of the proper linking of items in QC. There was lots of training on Telecom Product ordering process flow and HP ALM QC.

    Cons

The hourly rate for the contract was on the low side and there was no free coffee.

    Advice to Management

Offering free coffee to your employees might boost morale and productivity slightly.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and pay, that's all

    Cons

Slaver like mentality. Managers don't know the jobs their workers do. Management doesn't follow code of conduct.

    Advice to Management

Have respect for all of the workers under you, or they will all leave no matter what the pay is.
