Pros

Cons

Large companies do not always move as quickly as we would like. Unionized workforce make operations difficult and expensive.

I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Tuition Reimbursement
    Vacation (With Tenure)
No real accountability - keep your head down and you are good to go

I started here right out of high school and have progressed over 15 years. I have held multiple titles throughout including management. One thing I can say is that I was always paid well. Verizon put me through school and graduate school on their dime and have enabled me to provide for my family.

    Cons

    Senior Management Disconnect
    Sales targets are unrealistic
    Lack of Accountability

Management is disconnected. Senior leadership continues to push unrealistic targets and hold unrealistic expectations for sales. They feel that just because we are "Verizon" people will buy. Unfortunately, they need to take a hard look at the service component, which has fallen by the wayside. The only reason we are in business is due to the size of the organization. If people could find an alternative, they would go.

    Advice to Management

Live the Credo that you speak so highly of. Or, add a line to it to include time in the trenches. Your disconnect with the average worker is evident.

    I worked at Verizon full-time

    Pros

Excellent pay, health care, yearly bonus, vacation and personal time.
Most management was professional and very willing to work with me when personal problems began interfering with my work life.
Open-door policy always helpful; management (including senior) always willing to talk.
Work ended once I was off the clock and never interfered with my personal life.

    Cons

Just really stressful work that wasn't suited to my strengths and skills.
