    I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Some positions with Verizon Enterprise allow work from home (so you can work 11-15 hours a day). Great 401k, education reimbursement, some opportunities for training.
    Some autonomy without much micromanagement depending on your VPs outlook from the top down.
    Some of the people are great, many will throw you under the next moving bus.

    Cons

    Poor upper management in many divisions
    Never get more than 3% raise even on the best years and the best performance.
    Quantitative/Numbers focus only on sales even for engineering, product, and consulting divisions without due car about delivery quality and fixing internal broken processes where are everywhere.
    Long hours and lots of stress for managers (lots of responsibility, very little authority)
    Very poor position structure, job roles and definitions.
    Very few people know who to talk to in order to get the right answer. This is the company Culture, not random to one division or another. Even people who have been around a long time due to many restructuring decisions at the top have no idea who to go to and who is responsible for many processes and products.
    Very old laptop equipment and phones for some divisions for employees (many are still running WIndows XP and old school blackberrys).
    Fleeing sales force. Many of the top sales force (Account Executives and Account Managers) and Sales engineers have left the company in 2012 and 2013 due to poor compensation, poor job boundaries, and far too much pressure on selling to a Customer who has no idea what they are buying.
    No career path for anyone with the title Consultant or Sr. Consultant. It stops there for the most part.

    Advice to Management

    You are not General Motors, no need to destroy the company culture any more and restructure again.
    Stablize the sales work force.
    Fix the compensation issues within the company across the board for each and every division.
    Focus on delivery quality for all product, support, and service organization, not only on the numbers. The culture is suffering from a sales only focus without any regard to how Verizon will deliver on those same sales with constant employee turnover and restructuring.
    Leave the engineering, product, and consulting divisions alone, if you destroy them anymore, you will soon be loosing additional sales in the near 1/2 billion dollar range. Fix the inter division processes using your VLSS investment.
    Focus on employee retention and long term career path
    Open the communication channels from the bottom up instead of only the top down.
    You overpaid for Terremark, enjoy it. More than 2 years later you still have not integrated it. Integrate it gracefully and call it a day. Pat yourself on the back and compensate yourself some more for overpaying and more so if you are successfull at integrating it or setting some bounds for the platform business.

    Pros

    Benefit compensation, Quick commute to work. Father was V.P. in Newark for many years..

    Cons

    Once a lifetime career turned to just a job. Lack of recognition, could care less of a persons integrity and dedication and knowledge of usefulness..Only concerned with numbers as in all corporate America.. Sad... Always a knock never a boost...

    Advice to Management

    A happy worker is a productive worker... Not all employees fit under your useless category..
