I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Many lateral job opportunities available through the Call Center(s)
Close-knit work culture
Great benefits (401k matching, medical, "corporate" flexible time-off)

Cons

Poor retail advancement opportunities
Product knowledge not a high priority

Advice to Management

Focus more on helping customers understand their products thoroughly. Sales without true service results in festering customer dissatisfaction, particularly for premium brands.

    Pros

A great company to work for, they provide top notch technology and are a industry leader. Pay is pretty good for an entry level position and can provide excellent benefits and work experience.

    Cons

Advancement takes awhile and the hours can be stressful. The general public views you the invdivdual as Verizon and takes out all their frustrations on you. It would be a lot better if the hours weren't so long.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at top performers, it seems like a good old boys club at times. If you don't foster the right relationships it can hamper your career progress within the company.

    Pros

a decent amount of paid vacation.
50% off of cell phone bill, they also give you a company phone that you can use instead of personal phone that is unlimited. and you don't have to pay. you can save $2000/yr on a cell bill.

The following can be seen as a con as well, but they will hire about anyone with a pulse... Turns out to be a pro because they hire lazy people that would rather sit around than help customers. If you're a motivated sales person you can help 5-6 people in a row, which results in a pretty good paycheck.

    Cons

Expect upper management to drive 1 of 4 things - selling tablets, ensuring you take customers to a kiosk and having them self serve, selling data to customer, selling smartphones... In the last sentence, did you see anything about customer service? You could be a 90 year old man that is blind and the expectation is that you must be sold a smartphone, with unlimited text... oh, you want to pay your bill, change your device, add an account manager... please go to a kiosk...

If you value ethical behavior this is not the place for you. Oh the sales rep forgot to tell you if you switched phones you would loose your 4gyg data? sorry about that you're out of luck. As a sales rep you feel like you can do little to nothing to correct customer issues.

If you're a customer you will be sent a refurbished phone via mail. As a sales rep if they see someone come into the door with a brown box the entire room will scatter. 1.2.3. not it!

obviously the hours, if you want to make a decent amount of money you cannot take weekends off, as they are the busiest.

Did I mention that you constantly feel like you're taking advantage of people?
