I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

great pay if your good in sales, a lot of room for growth, you can make your own schedule, if you time manage properly you wiill not have to put in over 50 hrs a week, great benefits and incentives if you want it bad enough, work smart not hard and you will see your rewards

Cons

- very clicky
- if your not "in" the click then you will not survive the company and no room for growth
- very aggressive environment if your not use to commission sales and constant changes in KPIs
- some senior management will never change their style in management or evolve to better tactics (ex. lack of communication, "old school" values, god complex)
- some core values do not mean the same to those in powerful positions

Advice to Management

utilize positive coaching. maintain training skills needed as a manager to better communicate with your employees, do not play favorites and pass up a good hard working employee because of "your" inconveniences.

    Pros

Employee friendly fantastic benefits from day one.

    Cons

"Fat" management company. Easy to get lost in the vertical and horizontal jungle of such a large organization unless one lines up the right sponsors.

    Advice to Management

Be an avid networker inside and out. Take on stretch assignments.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing benefits. Lots of ongoing training. An amazing company culture (in theory). If the right people like you, the sky is the limit.

    Cons

Ongoing Corporate fear that is never-ending. Pay isn't what it used to be for in store reps. If the right people dislike you, the limit is the sky. They will make sure to beat the ever-loving soul out of you until you can't take it anymore and eventually quit.

    Advice to Management

Stop turning a deaf ear to the problems that your in store/call center reps have with the way they are treated. You've lost all of your best reps due to that and they are prospering at your competition. That's why the competitive gap in the Wireless industry is closing.
