Pros

There are many reasons as to why to work at Verizon Wireless. A few of them are the school tuition program and the health benefits.

Cons

Employees voices aren't always heard as they should be. Ideas are given and not always implemented after being asked for those ideas

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Culture is described as "fast paced, performance driven". If you like to work hard, be given challenging assignments, excellent training opportunities and work for a profitable company that others want to emulate, then you will do well at Verizon Wireless.

    Cons

Layoffs of dedicated, long term employees. If you aren't mobile, then you are not given much consideration for succession planning process. Trying to align processes between very profitable wireless business with struggling wireline business, which results in lower incentive payouts and profit sharing for all.

    Advice to Management

Don't punish Wireless employees because some of the other parts of the business are retracting and not as profitable, i.e. Wireline.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are available starting day 1. The coverage has gotten pricey, but overall they are great. Nationwide company means that if you have to relocate you have a good chance of keeping your job..

    Cons

Micromanagement at its worst. Commission structure is absolutely horrible. There is potential to make a lot of money, but only if you can keep up with the ever changing requirements to even qualify for a paycheck. There is also a lot of favoritism. If you want to promote from within you need to really be someone's best friend.

    Advice to Management

Trust that the people you hire can do the job. Reward employees for achieving goals. Learn that telling reps how bad they are doing is not a motivator.
