I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Lots of opportunities, good training, some really smart people to work with. Excellent benefits including health care and 401k. Very good philanthropy program.

Cons

Bureaucracy, bureaucracy, bureaucracy. Easy to get lost in all of the rules and process that is required to get things done. Company is huge so it's tough to really make a difference.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Pay is competitive but you will cap out.
    - Benefits package is good but in steady decline.
    - Fun and exciting products to work with.
    - Great tuition assistance program.

    Cons

    - Very little career advancement opportunity unless you get in with the right people, you're a good looking female or you are a sales junky and can perform in the Top 5 percent consistently.
    - Everything you do will be micromanaged and management is infallible. Don't even think about suggesting better ways of doing business or you will be blacklisted.
    - High turn over in sales positions and others are increasing.
    - Upper management only cares about numbers and nothing else. Company is becoming more and more greedy and at the employee expense both financially and emotionally.

    Advice to Management

Employee morale is also part of what drives the business, and morale is tanking. Logistically VZW is making good decisions, but you are very quickly loosing your best talent because you are paying millions for their education and not considering that into the interview process for management promotions. Take a look at the qualified people you have and promote them. Anyway, time for me to move on, thanks for paying for my undergrad and graduate degree's. Can't say I didn't apply 26 times.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, including educational benefits which are doubled the amount most places offer. Good work/personal life balance if you are working for the right team. There are still smart people working for the company. Is a great place to learn, specially if you are starting out in your career.

    Cons

They pay is below average. Is very difficult to move up. There are too many different teams within the company, this sometimes adds to the bureaucracy and makes it difficult to get work done.

    Advice to Management

It should not be so difficult to move up in the company or get a simple promotion.
