    Pros

It has great base pay with fantastic commission! Pair that with great benefits (401k, insurance, discounts) and a fair opportunity for advancement, Verizon Wireless is definitely an appealing place to work.

    Cons

There is a lot more pressure to meet sales goals than competitions carriers. The hours (Typically 50-60 hours) limits your work/life balance. This job is not ideal if you are a full-time student or a member of the Guard/Reserve.

    Advice to Management

Upper Management need to consider greater protection and looser quota relief standards for members of the National Guard or Reserve. Employees typically have a greater difficulty meeting or exceeding sales goals due to losing whole weekends (at least) per month, as well as losing two weeks or more due to Annual Training. Company policy had gone to great lengths to comply with federal law, but more needs to be done in order to maintain valuable employees.

  2. "Not a place that allows for advancement."

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Above average benefits and compensation relative to the local economy. Good training opportunies on emerging technologies. Pleseant work environment.

    Cons

Advancement is purely politcal, based on who you click with. I have seen friends of directors get senior positions with minimal experience or related education, while other talented and knowledgable individuals stagnate for years. Talent, knowledge and experience are taken for granted and not a factor in advancement. Would rather recruit individuals externally than promote from within.

    Advice to Management

Open the cell doors and allow movement of motivated people within the company. If job change is good for the accelerated management track types, it is good for any employees who desires it. Advancemt or movement is not a zero sum game.
