I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits from day one. Never a dull day.

    Cons

Performance scorecard always changing, stressful targets, no personal life

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing (obsessing) so much on one metric. Job would be more enjoyable if coaching approach was more positive and not so often as to have one per transaction. Having your manager breathing down your neck while helping customers is very annoying. All customers notice the rep being shadowed and makes them feel like they are working with a new hire

"Very stressful work environment with incompetent management."

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Competitive Pay
    -Awesome Health Care

This place has probably the best health care, and the pay is decent. Unfortunately the commission structure is rapidly changing for the worse. Last year I had a net of $50k, but this year I was netting around $36k. I had my best year last year, and made almost half of what I made last year.

    Cons

    -Absolutely NO work/life balance.
-Can only move up in the company if you "brown nose"; merit alone will get you nowhere
    -Pointless meetings at random times
    -STRESS
    -Impossible sales quota
-No PTO (can only use vacation time, and it has to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Kids sick and its an emergency? Verbal warning).

Just reflecting on why Verizon is a terrible company is stressful; just avoid like the plague. Read other reviews on here, many people have hit the nail on the head.

    Advice to Management

Hire new management, get a new CEO and VPs, less focus on shareholders.
